As humans, we are constantly trying to express our thoughts and emotions; these are the foundations that everything else is built on. Art is one of the most effective ways that people do this. People like Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso were able to express themselves through their art; they used paintings as a means of filling their hearts with love or anger or sadness. Art is a place where you can let emotions and thoughts escape their containment within your mind.
But self-care is crucial for making sure that your physical and mental health are in good shape. One way of practicing self-care is by doing creative activities like making art. If you find yourself struggling with anxiety and depression, you might find that doing arts and crafts is a way for you to take care of yourself. Art can be a great way to address your emotions and needs in a non-threatening manner. Even just by drawing something you're noticing the emotions that are inside of you which might not have been otherwise recognized or acknowledged.
Rachel Burrell, is a passionate singer and writer who has been grabbing attention of many local New York and New Jersey music and creative scene individuals with her distinct and soulful voice.
In this episode, we'll discuss about how art can be a powerful tool for expressing our ideas and feelings, as well as the many types of self-care that you may practice on your own health.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
· Rachel's journey into the career of singing
· Why we should practice self-care on a daily basis
· The ways in which Rachel takes care of herself
· How Rachel conveys her message through her performance
· How art may help us express ourselves

In an attempt to show our dedication to the job at hand, we often push ourselves in ways that can cause a loss of self-care. It’s easy to understand why overworking is tempting. It gets you ahead of the game, gives you more responsibility, and can ultimately lead to a promotion. Plus, your boss will be happy if they think that no one else can do the job. But here’s the thing: by putting in more hours than anyone else, you are actually doing yourself harm.
If you find yourself constantly working overtime just for the sake of making more money or staying ahead of the competition, it might be time for a new perspective on your work life.
Self-care is essential for your physical and emotional health. When you don’t prioritize self-care, it affects your physical health by contributing to stress and anxiety, while neglecting your emotional wellbeing. Self-care has a significant impact on work productivity, which can lead to burnout and ultimately, resulting in decreased work output and engagement and higher turnover rates and absenteeism.
Of course, many factors—stress at work—can put a strain on your daily life. But an effective self-care routine lets you set boundaries and focus on the important things in your life. And it can keep you from being overwhelmed by work.

How self-care empowers you to unconditionally love others
Many people equate taking care of themselves with selfishness and self-centeredness. Even worse, others may overlook or ignore their needs, making it difficult for them to pay attention to themselves and what they really need. This type of neglect can wreak havoc on a person’s self-esteem and self-confidence and ultimately lead to the destruction of relationships.
Self-care is the practice of taking care of yourself in order to give your all-out love and compassion to others. As well as helping you manage your emotions and develop resilience, self-care also improves your mood and energy levels, leading to greater motivation, confidence, clarity and creativity at work.
If self-care is important to you, then caring for others should be equally as important. Self-care creates a foundation for being able to provide love and support to those around you without the need for perfectionism.
